Diego Garcia Video
BAGHDAD -- Here is some of the impromptu video I shot while I lived on the beautiful island of Diego Garcia. It's pretty recent material, but it doesn't show very much of the improved infrastructure/amenities that you can now expect when you go there (broadband internet, the food court and etc. . .). It's shaky, hastily shot and follows no central theme. But I'll be back there in February 2008 to finish my tour, and hopefully satisfy our need for more low quality Diego Garcia video. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
It's been raining since I first arrived here, but somehow today the clouds parted and I was finally able to take the camera out on a planned excursion to Turtle Bay here on the island. Everything was great and I was getting some good video until. . . it started raining. The editing in the video leaves much to be desired, but bear with me as I get my workflow together here (my powerful desktop arrived completely destroyed, and I'm relying on my scrappy but able laptop). Needless to say, there will be plenty of time in the next 360+ days to get plenty of video. I plan to update daily with fresh video, so check back regularly. Also: email me with questions you have and I will answer them ASAP.
Due to the outstanding Morale, Welfare and Recreation sports program here on Diego Garcia, I'm on the road to a great fitness level. I've been here less than a week, but I've already lost five pounds. There was an 'Earth Day' 5-K fun run today, which I finished in 22:32 (third place). Granted: there was quite an obvious drop off after 2nd place: 18:02.
