DJ Keltech
In today's music landscape, few drum n' bass producers are truly original in their approach to new beats. And few, if any, give due attention to the techniques and styles that gave rise to the niche D&B genre. In walks Welsh producer and turntablist DJ Keltech with enough creativity and live performance chops to shake things up at the top.
Photoshop MC
I've learned a lot about Photoshop over the past ten years or so. Most of has been in fits and starts or in eureka moments while trying to get projects done at work. But I've rarely had the desire to sit down and actually do some Photoshop training, fundamental or otherwise. That attitude changed when I wanted to get ACE certified in 2004: I knew I needed to start learning from the ground up. Deke's videos helped.
Freedom Radio | Promoting the Frequencies
AVDBTR -- I had clouds on my mind as I sat down to complete the lovely task of promoting the frequencies of Freedom Radio here in Iraq. The coolest thing, for me, about making clouds in Illustrator (and subsequently animating them in After Effects), is getting to fool around with the gradient mesh tool.
And since the clouds were designed in Illustrator (and exported as EPSs), I was able to make them as big or as small as I wanted throughout the After Effects composition. I jacked them up to 4000 x 3000 px to be on the safe side.
The map of Iraq was originally going to be a weather map, but I included it in this project because I wanted it to get its feet wet promoting a radio station before moving on to heavier stuff.
Keyframing the little jiggles and bounces of the clouds was easier than I thought it would be, and the result looks less distracting than I thought. The stars are just there for a little flourish/flair.
Fun on the road
From the hot shell casings landing on my neck in South Carolina, to the underrated sleepless nights in the hot Kuwait desert, my time on the way here has been nothing less than total comfort. Here are some pics so you don't feel left out.
